Styal Mill - Quarry Bank Mill and Museum uses local volunteers in the tourist shops and for other things.
Well there's the Mill of course - and did I mention the Mill. But seriously, there is a lot of great walks around Styal. See the pictures below.
Tatton Park has more wide open spaces to go mental in - and there's deer, Japanese gardens, great views, tropical greenhouses - a house and other stuff - great for an afternoon out. Tatton park is easy to cycle to from Wythenshawe (if you are fit) in less than an hour, although there is a killer hill to climb there and back.
